Christina Martini,
Christina Martini is the owner and senior teacher of a Maui-based Ashtanga Yoga Therapy Wellness Center and School offering traditional therpeautic Yoga Mysore-style personally designed one on one practice in Maui and Virtual. Her life and work are rooted first and foremost in serving God’s plans and will through her faith as a christian. This faith guides her values, her service to others, and her commitment to helping people care for the bodies and lives entrusted to them. While Christina teaches yoga as a discipline for physical health, breath awareness, and mindful living, she clearly distinguishes that yoga is not her faith. Her spiritual foundation is in Christ, and her work in wellness reflects her belief that the body is a sacred gift from God deserving care, stewardship, and gratitude.
With more than 30 years of integrating a holistic personal yoga practice and faith during her early years surviving and healing from early stage cancer and professional experience as a licensed clinical nurse specializing in oncology and chronic care management, Christina integrates Western medical knowledge with the therapeutic applications of traditional breathwork, movement , prayers, chants, meditation, mindfulness living. She studied Yoga Therapeutic modalities and application with respected teachers and lineage holders including Manju P. Jois, Nancy Gilgoff, David Williams, Ken Harukuma, Jo Ichihara, Maty Ezraty, Sharath Jois, and Sathu Jois. She has also completed integrative health training with Deepak Chopra, Vasant Lad, and Dilip Sarkar.
As a Licensed Oncology and Chronic Care Nurse Educator, Certified Clinical Yoga Therapist, and Certified Health and Wellness Ayurveda Coach, Christina bridges Eastern Natural Remedy and Western approaches to health and healing. Her work focuses on supporting individuals including those living with chronic illness or pre-existing medical conditions in developing sustainable self-care practices that strengthen the body, calm the mind, and support long-term well-being.
Christina’s path has been shaped by motherhood, personal healing, and decades of guiding patients, clients, students toward healthier and more balanced lives. Earlier in life she faced her own medical challenges and began integrating breathwork, yoga postures, prayer, meditation, and nutrition with a disciplined daily routine as part of her healing journey. More than three decades later, she continues a daily practice of 60–90 minutes, six days a week of prayer, meditation, breathwork, proper diet, and movement which she views as a way of honoring and caring for the body God has entrusted to her.
She has also developed Integrative Holistic Yoga Therapy programs for hospitals, wellness centers, and educational institutions, creating manuals and curricula that bridge Western clinical care with complementary wellness practices.
At her Maui Wellness Center - Shala , Christina offers Traditional Daily Mysore semi private coaching- self-practice, Weekly Led Primary Series movement classes, yoga therapy workshops, retreats, and Yoga Alliance–approved teacher training programs for those seeking to integrative movement of postures, breathwork, meditation, mindfulness. . Her teaching emphasizes that mindful movement, breath, discipline, and self-awareness are to cultivate strength, emotional resilience, vitality, and clarity.
Outside the shala, Christina enjoys beach walks, playing the piano, serving at church, reading by the ocean, cooking Ayurvedic meals, and quiet moments in nature. She believes in creating space for reflection, gratitude, and joy , values that are reflected in both her Christian life and her holistic approach to teaching yoga for health and wellness.
Christina’s vision is to help students integrate mindful movement, self-care, and intentional living into daily life, fostering balance between work, family, and health while she personally keeps God first in her life, honoring the sacred gift of the breath of life each day.
